Our next stay in Bali was in the lovely Ubud area. We stayed at the Komaneka Rasa Sayang and were amazed at the beauty of the hotel. As we arrived at night, the driveway was covered with beautiful lights in the trees all the way up to the entrance of the hotel – it was magical! On arrival we were handed a welcome drink – a delicious fresh fruit mix which was also a lovely surprise!

The Room

Stepping into the room was out of this world – a large, beautiful bed decorated with rose petals, a relaxing area with sofa and TV, a storage room, a writing table, a very large balcony with seating, and a gorgeous large bathroom with a shower and bath.

We were provided with everything we could possibly need and more. When we arrived in our room, we were shown where everything was from water, the famous Komaneka cookies (which were delicious!), travel adaptors, room service (great, extensive menu), pyjamas and slippers, flip flops, bathroom amenities and more. They also provided us with a scented mosquito spray, which was one of the nicest I’ve ever smelt! I loved that we had these gorgeous pyjamas, robes and slippers to wear – it made our stay that little bit more special.

The Hotel Grounds

The pool area was underneath the restaurant of the hotel, with a convenient outside bar and seating area next to it. The pool was surrounded with loungers and fresh towels were provided on each bed for us. It had beautiful views around the grounds of the hotel which made you feel like you were in the middle of a jungle!

Food & Drink

We made our way to dinner, which was delicious – the food, wine and service were one of the best I’ve had. We both went for chicken satay served with pineapple rice and each had a dessert – I went for the chocolate lava cake which was amazing! I loved the way they presented all of the food and drinks we tried – everything that was served to us looked first class.

After having one of the most peaceful nights sleep, we made our way to breakfast which also did not disappoint. I had fresh fruit with yogurt and muesli, followed by poached eggs with salmon and bacon on an English muffin – delicious!

The staff made the whole trip extra special from the moment we arrived – everyone was extremely friendly and did everything to make our trip perfect.

The Area

The hotel is on Monkey Forrest Road, and the hotel provides free transport to and from most of the locations within Ubud town. You can also travel to any of the other Komaneka resorts to use their facilities if you wish. There was lots to do around the area with lots of bars, cafes and restaurants, however we spent most of our time relaxing at the hotel during our stay, as it was so peaceful. I felt like I was miles away from everything which was just what I needed for my holiday!

Safe to say we had an amazing trip here and would recommend to anyone who is travelling to Ubud anytime soon! As always, let me know if you have any questions 🙂

Hello everyone!

Onto our next review during our stay in Bali at the lovely Dusun villas in Seminyak.

The Villa

Our lovely villa

Arriving into the Dusun Villas was like walking into paradise: with beautiful trees overhanging the walk way up to the villas, it was so beautiful and serene. The location is PERFECT, in the heart of Seminyak, on the same road as the well-known Mexicola, but tucked away so no noise! The Villa was just beautiful. We walked in through a large wooden door and walked up the path next to the gorgeous pool. The villa itself looked like a large hut, which had a lovely kitchen/lounge area outside but under cover, and the bedroom and bathroom inside.

The bedroom had a beautiful king-sized bed and was decorated with fresh flowers. The bathroom had one of the biggest walk-in showers I’ve ever seen, with his and her sinks. There was also a storage area for our cases and a safe for us to keep our valuables in. We had a full body massage on our first evening inside the comfort of our villa, which was SO relaxing!

Food & Drink

Every day the staff came to prepare our breakfast and afternoon tea which was a lovely touch, and so nice to have a late afternoon treat! Breakfast had a wide array of choice and was always freshly made for us with coffee. I loved being able to sit at our dining table overlooking the pool in the privacy of our own villa – so quiet and relaxing! Afternoon tea was amazing, it was different each day too which made a nice change. During our stay we had macaroons, éclairs and scones, which were all served with tea and coffee.

The food/room service menu was extensive which was great for us foodies, and the staff were super attentive and kind. We ordered twice from two local restaurants and the food was delicious. The staff came to prepare this for us, which made our meal extra special. We also made use of the mini bar that had soft drinks, beer, wine and chocolate – which I definitely made use of! I also noticed you could arrange a meal, BBQ or other requested lunch/dinner cooked specially for you in your villa by the chef! We didn’t get a chance to do this, but will definitely make use of this next time!

Other things I loved…

All the villas within the complex were all beautifully decorated, which made you feel like you were miles away from a busy Seminyak. We made use of the Dusun bikes and went on a lovely bike ride early morning, which was such a fun way to get some exercise before it got too hot! In the evening, we took advantage of the hotel car to go out for dinner (free of charge within a certain range) – such a great service and one less thing to worry about.

I think the staff really made our stay here. They were so welcoming and kind, I just relaxed the whole time. They remembered our names and would always be so polite and helpful when we had questions. It was also nice to have some places to eat/drink recommended so we had an idea of where to go!

This is such a luxurious and lovely place to stay, I highly recommend anyone to stay in one of these villas, perfect for all!

Hello lovelies!

So after having such an incredible time in Bali, I wanted to share my trip with you all! I’ve never been to Bali before so starting off at the Arwana Estate was such a great way to start the holiday! The villas were located in Umalas, and is a short cab journey (10 mins) to Seminyak.

Our beautiful pool

The Villa

We stayed at Villa Dani within the Arwana Estate, and it definitely did not disappoint! It was a magical stay from the start; with the beautiful rustic entrance with a large authentic door, to the 24/7 help from the lovely staff.

Villa entrance

The villa itself was stunning, occupying your own private pool, beautiful water feature, large outdoor bed, lounge area, kitchen and grand separate bedroom equipped with a beautiful bath, massage room and his and her sinks. Everything was authentically decorated and the attention to detail was second to none. Fresh flowers and plants were perfectly placed all around the villa, which left it looking and smelling amazing. The pool was a great size and I woke up each day to have an early morning swim to start the day. The bedroom suite had a huge bed, which was decorated with fresh flowers and gorgeous drapes. The bathroom also had a beautiful feature bath with a large window to see the outside scenery.

Enjoying fruit by the pool

I have to say, the staff made our entire stay wonderful – anything you wanted both within or outside the villa was just a phone call away. We went exploring around the area a few times, and the staff made it really easy to get a taxi and gave us tips on where to head out to. I also loved that there was a ‘turn down’ service in the late afternoon, where the staff made our beds, sprayed our room with mosquito spray and checked if we needed anything else – such a nice touch!

The Food & Drink

Breakfast as we all know is my favourite meal of the day, and breakfast here was delicious! We had this made for us by our own personal Chef every day – spoilt I know! There was lots of choice, but we would usually choose an array of fresh fruit, fruit juice of our choice and coffee. We didn’t take advantage, but I also noticed that you can enjoy a romantic meal cooked from the Chef herself, with a made to order meal! Our neighbours had a BBQ the first night which smelled divine. We’ll definitely be checking this out next time!

We usually had our breakfast in the dining area of our villa, as we had a lovely view of the water feature on one side and the pool to the other. It was also still lovely and cool at this time in the morning.

Lounge area

The Area

Based so close to the popular area of Seminyak, we were only a short journey from the hustle and bustle of shops, bars and cafes which was great! We did go for an explore around the area and we found a little coffee shop which was fab, but generally we would travel to Seminyak as it was close by.

Brunch at Seacircus, Seminyak

Other things I loved…

On our last evening we both had a massage on our large bed outside – it was unbelievable, leaving us so relaxed and knot-free after our long flight – just what we needed! There was also an extensive food, drink and services menu, which was perfect when you fancied a snack in the afternoon.

It was the little things made the stay perfect, such as the sound system (which also charged your phone), the beautiful daily flower arrangement, the amenities provided – I had forgotten my toothbrush so having this extra was fab! The whole villa was beautiful and we definitely got a feel for the Balinese culture with all the lovely decorations. Some mornings we would wake up and do yoga or a quick HIIT workout by the pool before it got too hot. There was so much space it was perfect for workouts.

Holiday HIIT Workout

Try this quick holiday HIIT – which you can do anywhere! I did 20 seconds on, 10 seconds off. Repeat the circuit 3/4 times if you can!

  • High knees
  • Incline mountain climbers
  • Incline press ups
  • Burpees
  • Lunge jumps
  • Tricep dips

Everything about this Villa was amazing – I wish we could have stayed for longer! If you have any questions on the villa or the area itself, let me know in the comments below and I’ll do my best to answer!

Thank you for having us Arwana Estate – we’ll be back again very soon!
